2014 Budget - July, August, September, October Recap

While I was busy this summer, not blogging, I totally forgot to keep up with my 2014 budget! Luckily I was able to just browse through my Stylebook app and see what I recently purchased. While I neglected to put the new items into my budget, I did remember to add them to my app!  Since I was so busy this summer with traveling, buying a house and renovating said house, I didn't spend that much on clothes. Here's a month-by-month recap of my summer and early fall purchases.

July - the boyfriend and I visited Buffalo (aka - home) during July. Everyone asked if I wanted to go shopping while I was home and I declined. Sadly, Western New York has no where near the selection of stores that we have in the tri-state area. Also, New Jersey has no sales tax on clothing purchases! I did make one purchase at Century 21 in July though. Some killer sandals!

Givenchy - Sandals $299.95 (Orig - $495)

August - The boyfriend and I spent most of our time house hunting and eventually buying our new house! Money was not spent on clothes, it went toward all those home buying incidentals.

September - I went to a conference in Madrid and made a stop in the Zara store. I usually am hot a Zara shopper, but I couldn't help but check out the price and variety differences between Zara US and Zara Spain. What did I discover? Zara in Spain is much cheaper. Be sure to leave room in your suitcase for some fun pieces.

Zara - Dress with tie waist - $36 (US Price - $49.90)

via Zara
Zara - Sweater with Jewelled Shoulders - $49 (US Price - $79.90)
I bought this sweater in black, but you can get it in red!

Zara - Printed Blouse - $37 (US price - $49.90)

Zara - Blouse with contrast top stitching - $37 (US price - $49.90)

October - The boyfriend and I just went to Cambodia and I wanted a new crossbody bag for the trip. I went with a Deluxe Everyday bag from Le Sportsac. It has a bunch of pockets, can easily go into the wash and comes in so many cute colors!  I went with this one and I picked it up at the Bloomingdale's outlet for a steal.

Le Sportsac - Deluxe Everyday Bag - $45 (Orig - $82)

With all of the travel and house stuff that has been happening in the Wilde household, it seems that I cut back on the personal shopping quite a bit! Sadly, I really haven't saved any money. All the money that I usually spend on my clothing budget has gone into our renovation budget (plus a whole lot more money!)

With the holidays coming up I tend to take a hiatus from buying myself anything. Well, after the big Thanksgiving sales of course! I usually drop a bunch of cash on black Friday sales while visiting the "in-laws" in Florida. They have such great outlets down there! Expect a large (probably over budget) November recap, followed by a sparse December budget.

2014 Budget
January - $614.07
February - $1,693.09
March - $110.50
April - $361.00
May - $655.99
June - $666.00
July - $299.95
August - $0 !!!
September - $159.00
October - $45.00

How does your budget look at this time of the year? Do you cut your personal spending in November and December to allow yourself more money to buy presents?

Also, what are you lusting after this holiday season? Is there something special that you would like to unwrap this year?

Wilde Week

Welcome to my Wilde Week! Just a little weekly update with things from my life, internet things I've been loving and just a whole lot of random thoughts. I seem to have a lot of random thoughts...

- I've been at my new job almost three months now! Though since I started, I don't think I've had one full week of work.  With the snow days and the holidays, I've been working three and four day weeks for months!  I think this week is finally the week that I'm at the office for five full days. That is assuming that the snowstorm that is supposed to hit this afternoon isn't too big!

- My new commute takes me through Newark Penn Station (not to be confused with New York Penn Station, even though they sound like the same station when a conductor shouts it over the train loud speakers). It's an old building, with rough, exposed iron beams and a beautiful art deco waiting room. It's no Grand Central, but it certainly makes my commute a little prettier.

- I'm afraid that I've gone way over my clothing budget for the month of February.  I blame all these amazing winter sales! My most recent purchase? I found that adorable pink Ted Baker bag at the Bloomingdale's outlet this past weekend for 50% off. The best part? I saw it at the UWS Bloomingdale's a few weeks ago, full price. You can get it on sale on Amazon, just not in the baby pink. Sorry. The best part about the tote? The lining is covered in bulldogs in bowties.

- Apparently January and February is the best time to do all those fun, christmasy, New York City things.  This past weekend, the Boyfriend and I used our GILT City coupon for skating and dinner at the Bryant Park skating rink.  The food was tasty, the skating was tricky and the price was right.  Bonus? The lines weren't that long and we were able to skate until closing. The only problem? Their rental skates have zero edge and you just kind of skim along the ice!

- I'v been trying to think about what I want to do for St Patricks day on the blog. Then I realized that I really just want to make more Lucky Charms treats and eat the entire pan. Is that wrong?

- I feel like I've been missing out on something with House of Cards.  Generally, I don't watch a TV series until it's been established. I've been abandoned by one too many TV shows - Awake, Flash Forward, Surface - and I like to know that I've got a few seasons to watch. Has anyone else been bitten by the House of Cards bug? The boyfriend is suggesting we binge watch both seasons, I'm dubious.

- Did you know that I'm awesome at bowling? And I look really good in bowling shoes?  The BF and i discovered a bowling alley near our apartment and hit the lanes last week. I haven't bowled in at least 5 years, yet I managed to score over 100 pins in each of the three games I played.  The BF? He was captain of the bowling team in high school. He has two bowling balls with his initials inscribed on them. Yeah, he tied or beat me in each and every game.

- I'm loving these longer days, with all the extra sunlight. I am not looking forward to March 9th, when we spring ahead and we're back to 5pm darkness. Can we do away with daylight savings time yet? Nobody likes it.

Wilde Week

Hey ladies (and gents? Do guys read fashion and beauty blogs?), I've been doing this Wilde week update on my other blog (Wilde in the Kitchen) for a while now. I thought I would share it over here as well. Things have been super busy recently and I thought I would share with you a little bit of my non-fashion and NYC world!

- I had my first cranberry bliss bar from Starbucks this week! There are a few things that signify the start of my holiday season and having one of these treats is right at the top of my list.

- I met up with a bunch of the girls from my former company this weekend for brunch at Penelope. It was so great to catch up with everyone and see how all their new jobs are going. You want to have brunch at Penelope on the weekend? Either get there before 10am or after 2pm. We got there at 10:30 and had to wait about 45 minutes. Go and get Andrey's egg sandwich, it's amazing.

- Did I tell you that the Boyfriend and I are heading to Florida for Thanksgiving? I can't wait to get to the warmer temperatures, but since we're traveling on Thursday we won't be getting the traditional thanksgiving dinner. I couldn't do without the turkey and mashed potatoes so I whipped up the traditional meal this past Wednesday! I mostly wanted to eat pie.

- Did you know that if you leave an entire French silk pie in my fridge that I will eat all of it in a few days?

- I rescheduled my December Stitch Fix for last week because it was supposed to arrive the day before thanksgiving. They sent me an awesome fix this month and I can't wait to share it with you. Stop by next week for the full review!

- I have BIG NEWS that I'll be sharing next week. I'm so excited to tell you.

Have a fantastic holiday!  Here's to a filling and delicious thanksgiving dinner and a productive and sale-filled weekend.
