This month I asked for some fun clothes for my new job. I was so happy to see a variety of color and print in my box this month. I'm always a little sad when I open a box and find a monochromatic box full of black and white items. No need to worry about that this month, everything was so bright and cheery! I think the stylists at Stitch Fix know that I'm over winter.
First out of the box, this beautiful striped top from Daniel Rainn. In our current weather, this top is only appropriate under a blazer. It would be perfect in the warmer months (or in a warmer climate) with jeans. Great color combo, great print, it was just a little more expensive ($78) than I would usually spend on a simple tank. If it had sleeves, then maybe I would have ponied up the cash.
Next up, this chevron print dress. The print is great, I loved the contrasting prints (it's actually the same material, just the other side of it). Why didn't I keep this dress? It was just too short and too cute. I'm 5'9" and this dress really isn't long enough for work, maybe on someone a few inches shorter it would totally work. Mostly, I thought this dress was just too adorable and sweet. It felt too young on me.
I love colored jeans and I was excited to see a pair in my box this month. Just Black is not a brand that I've heard of before and I was happy to give them a try. These jeans were the most expensive item in my box, at $88, but they were an excellent skinny jean. Why didn't I keep them? I already own a pair of green skinny jeans! If only they were in another color.
My stylist, Christine, read my requests and sent me a bunch of tops for work this month. This embellished top isn't really work appropriate, but it's really fun. Sadly it didn't fit very well, it rides up at the chest, and the sequined shoulders reminded me of my baton twirling days. For all those reasons, this top went back in the bag.
Finally, this 41Hawthorne top was the winner of the bunch. Look at that print! Little swans! So adorable. My only problem with this top? It's January and this shirt has no sleeves! Brr... At only $28 and the fact that this top is so fun, it stayed with me.
So it's a mixed review this month. Two misses, two wins and one meh. I haven't had a five piece fix in a few months, but I think that's because I've been doing lots of shopping at the outlets in Paramus. I'm looking for special pieces to add to my wardrobe and tend to be very picky when it comes to my fixes.
I'm still enjoying getting my fixes, they're just so much fun! I feel like as SF has gotten more customers, their variety of brands and pieces has really improved. They also recently sent out a survey to their customers, asking for suggestions and honest feedback about their current business. Perhaps in the future you'll see more items offered at Stitch Fix, including shoes or intimate apparel? Who knows!
