Stitch Fix #9 - January 2014 & a HUGE Giveaway!

Happy New Year Stitch Fix friends! It's time for another fix and this one was lots of fun, though not so fun to photograph.  It's getting cold out!  My poor little fingers were freezing!  This fix came in the mail just before my Christmas trip home to Buffalo, so I took this fix home and had my family help me choose what to keep!

Haven't heard about Stitch Fix yet? You can read a full review and explanation in this post and decide if it's something you're into!  Basically you fill out an online profile and the Stitch Fix stylists send you some pieces from their vast collection.  There is a $20 styling fee that gets applied to anything you purchase.  Personally, I like to set up a Pinterest board for each coming season to help the stylists understand my style and what I've been lusting after.

This month I asked for a blazer for my new job and some cute weekend pieces.  The pieces they sent me ranged from - Just what I was looking for - to - Totally not my style.  Be sure to read through the entire post for a chance to win a $100 Stitch Fix gift card!!!

First up, this sheath dress from 41Hawthorne.  I've been getting at least one item from the Stitch Fix private label each month.  This month I got two. While I generally like the pieces from 41Hawthorne, I'm hoping for a little variety next month.  This dress was cute, but I wasn't liking the fabric. It felt a little to flimsy for a work dress.  I also just scored a few Hugo Boss dresses from the Bloomingdales Outlet recently, so back to California it went.

41Hawthorne - Clement Striped Sheath Dress

As far as trends go, the draped sweater hit hard this fall and Stitch Fix is determined to get me to buy a whole bunch of them. Remember the one on the right from two months ago?  Or maybe the one in the center looks familiar, I actually own that one.  I mentioned these things last month when I sent back the one on the left.

But that didn't stop them from sending me another one! I really loved this one, especially the detail at the wrist, but how long is this aztec draped sweater trend going to last?  I couldn't justify keeping this one.  You should totally ask for it in your next fix.  It was so warm!

Mystree - Arwen Aztec Front Draped Cardigan

Up next we have two major fails.  The Papermoon blouse was a weird fit for me, I didn't really like where the pockets were sitting either.  I feel like it's more of a summer shirt, sadly it's in a wintery color.  No more chiffon blouses during winter please!  These pants were also a miss.  Look how huge they are on me!  Also, I recently dropped a wad of credit at Elie Tahari and I'm pretty set in the trousers department. I haven't had any luck with trousers from Stitch Fix, yet.

Papermoon - Wynn Ikat Print Front Pocket Blouse
Margaret M - Arthur Trouser

The last thing out of my Stitch Fix box was this 41Hawthorne blazer, just what I asked for!  It's more of a casual blazer, as it's made from cotton, but the color is beautiful and the ruched sleeves are such a fun detail! I also loved the fit, it cinched in at the waist just perfectly!  Totally kept this piece.

41Hawthorne - Benson 3/4 Ruched Sleeve Blazer

  10. I like the reviews of all the pieces, even the ones that didn't work out. I would like to see how that Aztec cardigan looks on me ... I've been thinking about those drapey sweaters lately.

  11. I thought the dress looked gorgeous on you, but the blazer is a great color (and love the contrast lining!). I probably would have kept the aztec cardigan - it looks so cozy, plus I like that it's black and white (more neutral)!

  16. Honestly, all often pieces look great on you! But I would have kept the blazer too. You can get the most use out it, and that color is amazing!

  17. Hi Vicki! Thanks for stopping by my blog and inviting me over! I would have a hard time choosing between the Aztec print cardi and the blazer (love the color). I'm totally a sweater girl though, so probably the cardi:)

  18. Great reviews Vicki! You do look great in the Aztec sweater although I understand why you wanted something more classic. The cobalt blazer, though, is perfection! Glad it worked out so well for you.

  20. Hi Vicki, thx so much for visiting me @theboxqueen today! I really liked your comments on your classics. From the above fix I would definitely keep the blazer ( it looks great on you) as I love the color and the fix. I may also have kept the Aztec sweater depending in how it looks layered. I will follow you on instagram and facebook; would be soo happy if I saw you on my social media as well; think we have similarities in our fashion taste <3 <3

  23. That blue blazer is gorgeous and the perfect color for you. I also like that it can be styled for several different seasons! A keeper for sure! The chiffon blouse actually looks really nice on you, but i understand about that fabric in the winter! I love the sweater - keeper! The dress is fabulous but I really would not wear it enough to justify keeping it. I love your Stitch Fix reviews. Thanks for the fun! Susan

and you look so good with it, I have one that looks kind of like that one and even though I don't have such a lovely figure as you have, it looks pretty good on me :)

  36. I think the neckline on the dress is really unique and interesting, but otherwise, there is something a little off about it. Like you, I would've chosen the blazer. Love the fit - and the cobalt color!

  37. Glad you kept the blazer - it's lovely on you! I really like the cardi too, looks nice and warm for winter.

  38. If the trousers fit a little better I would have kept them - the wide-legged look is great on you!

  39. I wish they would try to get me to buy a drapey cardigan. They never send me any and they're my favorite!

  40. I really love the open front sweater! I requested one in my next fix, so hopefully the one they send me will be cute.

The blazer is really cute on you, but I feel so awkward in blazers - even if they're required for a work environment.

  50. I totally would've kept that cardigan! I actually asked for a thicker warn sweater/cardigan in my last fix but they sent me a thin cardigan instead. I liked it but it was not going to do me any good during the winter. I know they take location into consideration, but it gets cold in Memphis too!
