2014 Budget - May Recap

While I was in London last month, I did some shopping. I was very specific about where I went and I only ventured into UK based shops. That means I visited Karen Millen, Reiss, FCUK, TopShop and Ted Baker, to name a few. Why did I do this? I found that only UK brands were cheaper than their usual prices I get in New York city. Example - A DVF dress priced at $365 in the States was £330, or $555, at Harrods.

I picked up a new iPhone case, a sweet make-up case and this adorable dress. I've had my eye on this dress for a few months now and it has refused to go on sale. I was happy to pick it up at UK prices.

Ted Baker - WUBTY - Contrast Collar Dress - $200 (Original - $248)

Giorgio Armani - Wedge Heels - $139 (Original - $695)

Giorgio Armani - Peep-toe Booties - $159 (Original $795)

Jimmy Choo Bergen Peep-toe Wedges - $128 (Original $650) (Same in gold or silver)

I also bought a new bikini from TJ Maxx for my vacation. I couldn't find a very good image of it online, but maybe I'll get a good picture of myself in it while I'm in Hawaii! Ralph Lauren Island Ombre Bikini - $29.99 (Original - $112)

It was a big new shoe month for me this May. The three pairs of shoes actually came from one trip to the Woodbury Commons mall. They have an Armani outlet! Surprisingly, I spent three out of the four months out of town. I picked up a few non-clothing items for myself while in London, but I didn't count those in my May budget. I did this mostly because I didn't want to be that over on my budget. I know, totally cheating.

Total spent in May- $655.99
Price before sales - $2,500
Total Savings - $1,844.01 (74% savings)
Amount over budget - $155.99

2014 Budget
January - $614.07
February - $1,693.09
March - $110.50
April - $361.00
May - $655.99

Deep Blue

I love this dress. This Theory dress is made of the softest blue suede ever. You might have noticed it last month in my budget recap and I've been waiting for a good day to make its debut. With the winter that we've been having here in  New Jersey, I've been waiting for a day that is free of sleet, snow and hail!

Just about everyone at the office asked to feel this dress, it just looks luscious! Today I paired it with a simple white button down (my fave is this totally affordable option from Banana Republic) and riding boots.  As the weather warms this spring, I'll shed the layers and rejoice in the sun!

Happy February 14th

Two things today.  Since it's February 14th, I thought I would celebrate the Boyfriend a little.  The boyfriend and I are celebrating our 11th Valentines day together!  He's an amazing guy in too many ways to express in one blog post.  I thought I would share today one of the more fun reasons why he's awesome.

He shops for me!

Seriously. His office is right near the Bergen county outlets and he stops there occasionally on his way home.  He'll find some amazing pieces, on serious markdown, usually in my size and bring them home for me!  It's like having a personal shopper that doesn't want commission.  He brought home this Max Mara sweater for me earlier this month and it was only 15% of the original price!  It's so warm and fluffy, I love it.  He's such a good shopper.

Second thing for today?  Did you notice that I'm standing on top of the snow?  This is the result of last weeks snowstorms.  One foot of snow, coated with 1/2-inch of ice.  I haven't seen something like this since I was twelve years old and living in Buffalo, NY.  It's hilarious and sad, all at the same time.

Weekend Warmth

I'm so excited for the rising temperatures this weekend.  It's going to be a heat wave with temperatures heading up into the mid thirties!  Time to break out the bikinis!  I wore this number last weekend during the second wave of Canadian air.  See that Theory sweater?  It's the most amazing sweater in the world.  So warm and cozy, I wear it every single day at work.

In other news, did you know that it's the Super bowl this weekend?  I did.  Mostly because there are lots of people in Super Bowl logo emblazoned parkas all over New Jersey public transit. Them and a serious amount New Jersey police officers with giant guns.  It's a hoot.

Staying Warm in the Deep Freeze

When the temperatures fall below freezing here in the Tri-state, I break out the puffy coat.  Typically not known for their style, the puffy jacket has taken a turn for the better since my last brown Northface. I picked up this jacket during Cyber Monday from Piperlime. I was going for something warm, kinda cute, but not too expensive.  I have been wearing it since the temperatures decided to plummet.

How do you stay warm in the sub-zero temps?

Classic Buffalo

Welcome to a classic Buffalo, NY winter day!  While visiting my parents last week, we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of fluffy, white snow. I had a great time playing around in the back yard!

To survive a snowy day in Buffalo you need the following...  1. A brightly colored jacket  2. A scarf you can snuggle down in  3. Tall boots to keep the flakes out  4. An empty calendar, because even if two feet of snow come down, nothing is going to be closed.
