Deep Blue

I love this dress. This Theory dress is made of the softest blue suede ever. You might have noticed it last month in my budget recap and I've been waiting for a good day to make its debut. With the winter that we've been having here in  New Jersey, I've been waiting for a day that is free of sleet, snow and hail!

Just about everyone at the office asked to feel this dress, it just looks luscious! Today I paired it with a simple white button down (my fave is this totally affordable option from Banana Republic) and riding boots.  As the weather warms this spring, I'll shed the layers and rejoice in the sun!

Leather & Sun

The days are getting longer, but they're not getting any warmer yet! The city is in for another snowstorm today and we're all hoping that it's the last one of the year. I wore this outfit last weekend for an afternoon out with the boyfriend, when the temps rose above forty-five.  I got this Theory skirt a few weeks ago at the big Bloomingdale's sale and have been waiting for the proper destination and temperature to wear it. It's not really a work appropriate length!

I love that spring is coming because it means I can wear this coat again!  Being a commuter, I need to wear a coat that covers my behind. When spring finally arrives it's goodbye puffy coat and hello wool moto!

Commuter Style

I'm at it again.  I've rejoined the ranks of the commuters! Though I'm not a traditional tri-state area commuter. I'm not taking the train to my fancy job in Manhattan. I'm taking the NJT from northern NJ to Princeton, NJ! From my apartment in Montclair, it's about 90 minutes by train to Princeton. By car it's 60 minutes, if there's no traffic. Which is never. Taking the train is way better. I can nap.

Ninety minutes on the train is actually a shorter commute than I used to do each day. I was a double river commuter for my previous job. To those not aware of the intricacies of commuting in the NYC area, a double river commute means I had to rely on two different transportation departments to function properly.  And because one of those two departments is the Long Island Railroad, I was home late all the time.

Train commutes include napping and reading (and working occasionally). Anyone have any good book recommendations?

Let it snow! I'm ready for winter!

Reverse Mullet

Is it me, or is everything being embellished with leather this fall?  Sweatshirts, leggings, hats, blazers. I've seen it paired with tweed, tulle, animal print and denim, just to name a few. And is it wrong that I want to own all of it?

This vegan leather top from French Connection was one of the items I picked up last month with my GILT certificate and I love love love it!  It's a conservative sweater in the back and a leather party in the front!  It's like a reverse mullet in sweater form.

Since that wasn't enough craziness, I paired the reverse mullet sweater with these subtly animal-printed jeans from C Wonder.  They are technically called "foiled" denim, but they totally aren't foily or shiny at all.  Which is good, because they would be way too much going on in my outfit then.

And was I the only one taken with the Rebecca Minkoff woven clutch this fall?  That one was over $300.  This beauty from French Connection was only $68!  Deal.  Love it.
