Wilde Spring

I'm back in the States for the next few weeks! We had a meeting scheduled for Australia this week, but I'm happy to say that it was cancelled. After two weeks in Europe, I could use a little time to acclimate back to East coast time. Being back in New Jersey means I get to enjoy the spring weather that has finally come to stay. That means skirts with no tights, open-toed shoes and shooting photos outside without freezing my butt off!

I actually wore this outfit a few weeks ago, when the pink flowers were everywhere. My work uniform has come to be either a dress or a pencil skirt and blouse. I love this simple cream colored shell from French Connection (and I actually own it in five colors!), it's perfect to wear all by itself, or layered under a blazer.

You might also notice these amazing booties. I picked them up a few weeks ago at Woodbury Commons (the most amazing outlet mall around) at the Giorgio Armani outlet store. Their original price? $795. The steal that I scored? 80% off. I think these beauties will be seeing a lot of wear this spring and summer.

Happy Spring!

I don't know what happens in my brain, but every year around this time of Spring I think that it should be warm out already. Growing up in Buffalo, it was never warm come Easter. In fact, I think it snowed a couple of years. In comparison, I should have enjoyed yesterday's sunshine and fifty degree temperatures.

The boyfriend and I headed to the park for a long walk around the loop. As you can tell, I'm wearing my Easter finest. As you also might be able to guess, I don't really do Easter. Though I did enjoy a few Reese's peanut butter eggs! I hope you all enjoyed your weekends and got to spend time with your favorite people.  Here's hoping that spring is truly on its way. Soon.

In order to stay warm yesterday, I donned some of my comfiest Hudson jeans. They're awesome, but I totally have to wash them alone. Unless I want all of my clothes to be green. My Kenneth Cole leather jacket kept the chill away and I enjoyed one more day of my favorite circle scarf.

Oh yeah, you need a good travel purse? Pick up this Kate Spade tote. I've been all over the world with it and it's so amazing! Just the right size, zips at the top and the outside it completely washable. So perfect. Plus, it comes in a million colors.

Studs & Chiffon

Pastel pink and a flared skirt can go cute/adorable pretty quickly. That's when you have to throw on a leather jacket and hopefully that baby pink blouse has some tough girl, metal details. I got this skirt from Stitch Fix a few months ago and have been wearing it pretty consistently since then. I've decided that I just can't pull off the tea length skirts from Tibi and have been going with knee length and above.

I love this shirt because I picked it up while on a birthday trip to Montreal. It reminds me of the fun surprise weekend away that the boyfriend planned for us. That's why I always like to buy two souvenirs while on vacation - 1. a local cookbook and 2. a new piece for my wardrobe!

Weekend Warmth

I'm so excited for the rising temperatures this weekend.  It's going to be a heat wave with temperatures heading up into the mid thirties!  Time to break out the bikinis!  I wore this number last weekend during the second wave of Canadian air.  See that Theory sweater?  It's the most amazing sweater in the world.  So warm and cozy, I wear it every single day at work.

In other news, did you know that it's the Super bowl this weekend?  I did.  Mostly because there are lots of people in Super Bowl logo emblazoned parkas all over New Jersey public transit. Them and a serious amount New Jersey police officers with giant guns.  It's a hoot.

Adorable Work Wear

I've been having a great time with my new dress code at work.  I suppose it's only fun because it's different.  I'm sure after a few months of no casual days, I'll be sick of dressing up for work everyday.  For now I'll enjoy the novelty of it!

I wore this to work last week and was told that I looked adorable.  Sounds good to me.  When you wear a flouncy skirt, there are only a few words you can use to describe it. I got this See by Chloe skirt at Roundabout consignment in Soho.  I've found some great pieces there recently!  I paired it up with this blouse from one of my favorite shops, Joie.

For the remainder of the week I wore lots and lots of pants, with tights under them.  I'm not liking this cold weather.  Is it spring yet?

Rats

As another polar blast hits the East coast, I think I'm going to bundle up and stay in this weekend.  While I love wandering the streets of New York, they become frigid wind tunnels in January and February.  This weekend I'll be staying local and brunching in Montclair with the Boyfriend.

I picked up this adorable necklace from the Etsy Craft Cavalcade in Brooklyn, just before Christmas.  I got it from Lu Crafts, though it looks like she only has housewares on her etsy site right now.  I'm sure you could e-mail her and request one!

I carry a huge tote to and from work each day.  During the weekends I like to pare down to a lightweight crossbody bag.  I picked this one up from Kenneth Cole a few weeks ago.  I like to pet it.

Brrrr!!! Stay warm everyone!

One Dress - Day to Night

Sometimes I'm lucky enough to head straight from work to a night out on the town.  I commute to work on the train and that means my train takes me directly to the city, no stopping at home for this girl!  How do I go from day to night?  With one killer dress!

When heading to work, I keep it all buttoned up and professional.  This Banana Republic blazer keeps me office appropriate, yet warm.  I love a knit blazer, especially since my office is frigid.

Gotta be sure to carry a big bag that will not only hold the things I need for work, but also carry my little make-up bag and my clutch for tonight!

A delicate statement necklace (made by a 3-D printer!) adds just a little bit of fun.

And these fabulous Tahari Mary Jane pumps finish off the look.  To get the party started for night...

I trade out my shoes for something a little higher and brighter!

I swap out my bag for this fabulous woven clutch from French Connection and switch my jewelry for something a little heavier, blingier.

And of course I ditch the blazer.  The leather panels on this Kenneth Cole dress (available in stores) were secretly hidden all day!  With just those few changes and I've gone from desk worker to dinner ready!

How do you go from day to night?  I'm dying for your secrets!

Staying Warm in the Deep Freeze

When the temperatures fall below freezing here in the Tri-state, I break out the puffy coat.  Typically not known for their style, the puffy jacket has taken a turn for the better since my last brown Northface. I picked up this jacket during Cyber Monday from Piperlime. I was going for something warm, kinda cute, but not too expensive.  I have been wearing it since the temperatures decided to plummet.

How do you stay warm in the sub-zero temps?

Classic Buffalo

Welcome to a classic Buffalo, NY winter day!  While visiting my parents last week, we enjoyed a beautiful afternoon of fluffy, white snow. I had a great time playing around in the back yard!

To survive a snowy day in Buffalo you need the following...  1. A brightly colored jacket  2. A scarf you can snuggle down in  3. Tall boots to keep the flakes out  4. An empty calendar, because even if two feet of snow come down, nothing is going to be closed.

Icy!

I'm back to New Jersey after a wonderful Christmas visit to my parents house in Buffalo, NY.  The weather upstate was all over the place this past weekend.  My plane landed in dense fog.  A steady rain melted all of the snow, flooded everything and then froze overnight, creating the winter wonderland you see in these images.  Luckily the waters receded, the temperatures dropped and snow fell just in time for a white Christmas.

I wore this outfit for a day shopping with my dad.  He took a look at me and asked "Are you going shopping like that?"  I countered him with the same question.  He looked at his flannel and jeans and answered yes.  Off shopping we went.

I have also discovered that dog fur doesn't stick to neoprene.  It's the only fabric I'm wearing on my next visit home.
