Wilde Spring

I'm back in the States for the next few weeks! We had a meeting scheduled for Australia this week, but I'm happy to say that it was cancelled. After two weeks in Europe, I could use a little time to acclimate back to East coast time. Being back in New Jersey means I get to enjoy the spring weather that has finally come to stay. That means skirts with no tights, open-toed shoes and shooting photos outside without freezing my butt off!

I actually wore this outfit a few weeks ago, when the pink flowers were everywhere. My work uniform has come to be either a dress or a pencil skirt and blouse. I love this simple cream colored shell from French Connection (and I actually own it in five colors!), it's perfect to wear all by itself, or layered under a blazer.

You might also notice these amazing booties. I picked them up a few weeks ago at Woodbury Commons (the most amazing outlet mall around) at the Giorgio Armani outlet store. Their original price? $795. The steal that I scored? 80% off. I think these beauties will be seeing a lot of wear this spring and summer.

Wilde Faves - UK Brands

I've spent the past week in London and I've determined that just about everything is more expensive here. And that's coming from a girl who likes to shop in Manhattan. What is cheaper? British designers!

I've made several trips to Ted Baker this past week, as well as stocking up on gym tights at Sweaty Betty and a cute bag from Accessorize. About that Burberry trench? Maybe on my next trip.

1. Ted Baker - Rose on Canvas Print Dress
2. Accessorize - Botanical Richmond Satchel Bag
3. Karen Millen - Pleat Lace Skirt
4. Sweaty Betty - Sunset sail Bikini
5. Burberry - London Cotton-twill trench coat
6. Reiss - Tulip Lace Blouse
7. FCUK - Octavia Leather Heels
8. Ted Baker - Floral Printed iPhone 5 case

While I shopped these locations here in London, all of them have brick and mortar stores in the US. Maybe it's the import taxes, but everything was about 10-15% cheaper on this side of the pond. You can save money on most of these brands by shopping online. Most of them only have real stores in the big cities and you can totally save yourself the sales tax!

What are you favorite British designers? Or maybe, what are you favorite German brands, as I'm currently in Berlin for the week!

Tulips in Spring

Spring is taking its time in coming to the Tri-State. I haven't even seen any tulips popping up yet! In order to cheer myself up the other day, I decided to bring spring in my outfit. I have a whole bunch of simply sheath dresses and decided to layer this French Connection cardigan over a simple grey sheath.

Even though I still had to wear tights under my dress, the color and print really made it feel like spring. Until it started snowing.

Leather & Sun

The days are getting longer, but they're not getting any warmer yet! The city is in for another snowstorm today and we're all hoping that it's the last one of the year. I wore this outfit last weekend for an afternoon out with the boyfriend, when the temps rose above forty-five.  I got this Theory skirt a few weeks ago at the big Bloomingdale's sale and have been waiting for the proper destination and temperature to wear it. It's not really a work appropriate length!

I love that spring is coming because it means I can wear this coat again!  Being a commuter, I need to wear a coat that covers my behind. When spring finally arrives it's goodbye puffy coat and hello wool moto!

Staying Warm in the Deep Freeze

When the temperatures fall below freezing here in the Tri-state, I break out the puffy coat.  Typically not known for their style, the puffy jacket has taken a turn for the better since my last brown Northface. I picked up this jacket during Cyber Monday from Piperlime. I was going for something warm, kinda cute, but not too expensive.  I have been wearing it since the temperatures decided to plummet.

How do you stay warm in the sub-zero temps?

Icy!

I'm back to New Jersey after a wonderful Christmas visit to my parents house in Buffalo, NY.  The weather upstate was all over the place this past weekend.  My plane landed in dense fog.  A steady rain melted all of the snow, flooded everything and then froze overnight, creating the winter wonderland you see in these images.  Luckily the waters receded, the temperatures dropped and snow fell just in time for a white Christmas.

I wore this outfit for a day shopping with my dad.  He took a look at me and asked "Are you going shopping like that?"  I countered him with the same question.  He looked at his flannel and jeans and answered yes.  Off shopping we went.

I have also discovered that dog fur doesn't stick to neoprene.  It's the only fabric I'm wearing on my next visit home.

Holiday Shopping

First off today, you see that little pile of snow I'm standing on? That's just about all the remained from the five inches that fell in the city this weekend. It came, it caused a lot of traffic accidents and food delivery orders and then it melted.  Actually it rained before it all melted, forming a very fun (and dangerous) sheet of ice outside of my apartment this morning. Winter in New York City is really strange.

Moving on. I have been in love with the floral print from Ted Baker since it appeared in stores a few months ago. I've been ogling this dress for weeks now, but I haven't pulled the trigger and bought it. I couldn't see wearing it enough to substantiate the cost. When the boyfriend and I were browsing Bloomingdale's this weekend we found that a. EVERYTHING WAS ON SALE! and b. that sale included this beautiful Ted Baker bag. Mine!

Coat: Piperlime (I just got this last week, but it looks like it sold out!)

We took these images while wandering from holiday market to craft fair in Brooklyn this weekend. I picked up quite a few amazing pieces of jewelry from local artisans! I'm actually wearing a ring from the Etsy craft cavalcade in Williamsburg. I'll be focusing on these pieces a little more in a few days.

Reverse Mullet

Is it me, or is everything being embellished with leather this fall?  Sweatshirts, leggings, hats, blazers. I've seen it paired with tweed, tulle, animal print and denim, just to name a few. And is it wrong that I want to own all of it?

This vegan leather top from French Connection was one of the items I picked up last month with my GILT certificate and I love love love it!  It's a conservative sweater in the back and a leather party in the front!  It's like a reverse mullet in sweater form.

Since that wasn't enough craziness, I paired the reverse mullet sweater with these subtly animal-printed jeans from C Wonder.  They are technically called "foiled" denim, but they totally aren't foily or shiny at all.  Which is good, because they would be way too much going on in my outfit then.

And was I the only one taken with the Rebecca Minkoff woven clutch this fall?  That one was over $300.  This beauty from French Connection was only $68!  Deal.  Love it.

Bulldogs and Roses

I got a dog!  Well, technically it's a sweater.  With a dog on it.  I've fallen for the whimsical sweater trend hardcore.  It started last year with an owl sweater.  Then I added a dachshund sweater to my collection.  A few weeks ago I went to French Connection with a GILT certificate and picked up this sweet sweater.

I've wanted a French bulldog since I started seeing them around the city in abundance a few years ago.  They are so happy looking, with their doggy smiles, and have so much energy.  I love sitting at the dog park and watching them run around!  Have you ever seen a Frenchie puppy?  Oh my god, so adorable.

I spent an afternoon in the park that is near my apartment and explored the rose garden.  The air smelled fragrant and crisp with the roses scenting the early morning fall air.  The array of colors in the garden was simply amazing.
