Tulips in Spring

Spring is taking its time in coming to the Tri-State. I haven't even seen any tulips popping up yet! In order to cheer myself up the other day, I decided to bring spring in my outfit. I have a whole bunch of simply sheath dresses and decided to layer this French Connection cardigan over a simple grey sheath.

Even though I still had to wear tights under my dress, the color and print really made it feel like spring. Until it started snowing.

Adorable Work Wear

I've been having a great time with my new dress code at work.  I suppose it's only fun because it's different.  I'm sure after a few months of no casual days, I'll be sick of dressing up for work everyday.  For now I'll enjoy the novelty of it!

I wore this to work last week and was told that I looked adorable.  Sounds good to me.  When you wear a flouncy skirt, there are only a few words you can use to describe it. I got this See by Chloe skirt at Roundabout consignment in Soho.  I've found some great pieces there recently!  I paired it up with this blouse from one of my favorite shops, Joie.

For the remainder of the week I wore lots and lots of pants, with tights under them.  I'm not liking this cold weather.  Is it spring yet?

One Dress - Day to Night

Sometimes I'm lucky enough to head straight from work to a night out on the town.  I commute to work on the train and that means my train takes me directly to the city, no stopping at home for this girl!  How do I go from day to night?  With one killer dress!

When heading to work, I keep it all buttoned up and professional.  This Banana Republic blazer keeps me office appropriate, yet warm.  I love a knit blazer, especially since my office is frigid.

Gotta be sure to carry a big bag that will not only hold the things I need for work, but also carry my little make-up bag and my clutch for tonight!

A delicate statement necklace (made by a 3-D printer!) adds just a little bit of fun.

And these fabulous Tahari Mary Jane pumps finish off the look.  To get the party started for night...

I trade out my shoes for something a little higher and brighter!

I swap out my bag for this fabulous woven clutch from French Connection and switch my jewelry for something a little heavier, blingier.

And of course I ditch the blazer.  The leather panels on this Kenneth Cole dress (available in stores) were secretly hidden all day!  With just those few changes and I've gone from desk worker to dinner ready!

How do you go from day to night?  I'm dying for your secrets!

Goodbye Summer!

The weatherman said that it hasn't been this cold since March.  Does that mean it won't be warm again for five months?  I don't know if I can handle that!  Anyone who lives in a warm climate have an extra room?  I'm good at baking, chemistry and giving fashion advice.

I took these pictures last week on the before the Canadian air invaded New Jersey, hence the bare legs. I decided it was necessary to soak up some sun before it decided to hibernate for the winter. I love the sheer layer over the simple black tank dress.  I don't think it will have the same effect with very thick tights. I'll have to do a refashion for this dress and see if I can wear it from season to season!

Has the arctic air invaded your part of the country yet? How have you been combating the weather change? I'm planning on wearing only fleece pants and not leaving the house for the next three months.  Get ready for lots of OOTD pictures of me from the couch.

Reverse Mullet

Is it me, or is everything being embellished with leather this fall?  Sweatshirts, leggings, hats, blazers. I've seen it paired with tweed, tulle, animal print and denim, just to name a few. And is it wrong that I want to own all of it?

This vegan leather top from French Connection was one of the items I picked up last month with my GILT certificate and I love love love it!  It's a conservative sweater in the back and a leather party in the front!  It's like a reverse mullet in sweater form.

Since that wasn't enough craziness, I paired the reverse mullet sweater with these subtly animal-printed jeans from C Wonder.  They are technically called "foiled" denim, but they totally aren't foily or shiny at all.  Which is good, because they would be way too much going on in my outfit then.

And was I the only one taken with the Rebecca Minkoff woven clutch this fall?  That one was over $300.  This beauty from French Connection was only $68!  Deal.  Love it.

Wool Moto

It's jacket time! I'm not sure if I should be happy or sad.  I'm sad because that means we are getting further from sun dress and sandals weather.  Yet I'm so happy because I can bring this coat out of the closet again!

I got this beauty at Elie Tahari last winter. I spent time arguing with the sales person about the colors it was available in. I swore that it also came in turquoise, yet he told me " No no no, purple, tan and gold alligator."  While I was taken with the gold alligator, it was about a thousand dollars more than I wanted to spend (seriously).  I decided the purple moto jacket was coming home with me.  I wore it until the temps dropped too low and my butt got cold!

And I was totally right about the turquoise.  I found it at Bloomingdale's a few weeks later!
