Fly Away

How do you get away with wearing a bright orange, bird print dress to work? By pairing it with killer shoes.

And a gorgeous handbag.

I got this dress last year in one of my summer Stitch Fix boxes and didn't wear it until last week. I just wasn't sure how or where to wear the dress. I recently picked up these Givenchy heels at Century 21 for a steal and have been wearing them almost non-stop since. I decided they were just the perfect accessory for a sweet, printed dress.

These heels are a mixture of flat black leather, suede and snakeskin-embossed leather. Not only are they beautiful, they are so comfortable! I really should buy more heels of this height. I can wear them all day long and on into the evening.

Do you wear summer brights to the office? Or would you save a dress like this for the weekend? (If you are a small, I found this dress for a steal here!)

Also, have you noticed how long my hair has gotten! It feels like it was short, short, short and then all of a sudden, LONG! I really need a hair cut. Sadly, my stylist was all booked up for the next two weeks!

Burnout Flare

T-minus two months before my braces are off!  I'm a very excited girl!

I don't know about you, but I'm not a huge fan of daylight savings time. The original point of falling back was to save energy by decreasing the need for lighting in the evening hours. So why don't we stay with the summertime clock setting?  I don't really need daylight at 6:00 in the morning, I'm still sleeping.

These photos were taken just before we "Fell back" and changed the clocks for winter, right in the golden hour before sunset.  With the change in time has come a change in weather! I've been wearing my Sachin & Babi coat non-stop.  I got it from Saks off 5th, but I found you an amazingly similar coat from Walter Baker.  I'm loving the quilted sleeves!

Bulldogs and Roses

I got a dog!  Well, technically it's a sweater.  With a dog on it.  I've fallen for the whimsical sweater trend hardcore.  It started last year with an owl sweater.  Then I added a dachshund sweater to my collection.  A few weeks ago I went to French Connection with a GILT certificate and picked up this sweet sweater.

I've wanted a French bulldog since I started seeing them around the city in abundance a few years ago.  They are so happy looking, with their doggy smiles, and have so much energy.  I love sitting at the dog park and watching them run around!  Have you ever seen a Frenchie puppy?  Oh my god, so adorable.

I spent an afternoon in the park that is near my apartment and explored the rose garden.  The air smelled fragrant and crisp with the roses scenting the early morning fall air.  The array of colors in the garden was simply amazing.

Green for Fall

I was so happy when the weather finally turned cooler.  I couldn't wait to bring my sweaters out of storage and wear jeans again.  I bought this sweater toward the end of winter last year and fell in love with it.  I actually got it as part of a Gilt city deal at French Connection.  The same deal they are running again this fall!  Check it out!  You spend $50 (or $100 or $150) and you get a FC credit for twice that amount.  Or you can be super fancy and spend $500 for a $1,500 credit and personal stylist!

I paired this cozy FC sweater with my Joie skinny cargos and voila, super comfy outfit.  Perfect for my busy day running errands around the city.  Have a great weekend!

This is my lipstick combo of choice when I want a red lip.  First, I use the Clinique chubby stick intense in Mightiest maraschino.  Next, I top that off with a little shine with SUGAR fresh in Cherry!

Comfy Fancy

I wore this while running a bunch of errands downtown.  Three people told me I was really colorful.  Two people felt up my peplum after I told them it was made of sweatshirt material.  I felt so popular.

Full disclosure - I only wore these heels for about thirty minutes.  I like to walk from store to store while running my errands.  These heels weren't made for walking and one of the errands I had to run was - buy new running sneakers.  I was going for casual-ish.  While this top looks super fancy, it is indeed made out of sweatshirt fabric.  It's so comfy!

See you later!  I'm off to change my shoes and run some errands!

Denim Reversal

What would my grandmother say?  I'm wearing white weeks after labor day!  And I'm loving it.  I bought these white jeans toward the end of summer and didn't get nearly enough wear out of them.  Why?  Because it was a thousand degrees outside all August.

I've decided Fall is the time for these babies to shine.  With booties.

Whimsy for Fall

A few months ago, on one of my random day trips to the city, I discovered C Wonder.  I've been smitten ever since.  Walking into the store, your eyes are assaulted by so much color it's crazy.  Crazy wonderful.  It's not really the store for the person who wears only black.

On top of fabulous colors and endless monogramming possibilites, C Wonder is offering so many whimsical sweaters this fall.  I had to hold myself back and I only bought one (though I totally wanted this one and this one too).  This adorable dachshund sweater isn't available online anymore, but I saw it in the store a few days ago.

Check out that little tail!  (the sweater that is, not mine)  So Cute.
